Fitness

If you play volleyball or field hockey, you often train with your team toward a competition. You have a goal in mind that is made measurable by your performance in the competition. Fitness often involves personal goals, such as losing weight or getting stronger. These goals become measurable by, for example, reaching a target weight or working toward being able to elevator a certain weight. But real competition is something that does not yet exist on a large scale in the fitness world.

Competition

And those missing competition elements are exactly what Hyrox provides a solution to: a competition that challenges all facets of fitness. The unique combination of both fitness and strength makes Hyrox unique and an ideal race for fitness enthusiasts from diverse backgrounds. Whether you love cardio or like to train with weights, you will be challenged on all levels during the challenging Hyrox races.

Race

How does that work? The race consists of one kilometer of running, followed by a workout such as 1,000 meters on the SkiErg. Then you run another kilometer, followed by the next exercise, such as 50 meters pushing the Sled Push. This routine repeats a total of behind times, with different workouts each time. The other workouts covered are the Sled Pull, Burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and finally wall balls. That’s not nothing!

For everyone

The beauty of the competitions is the togetherness. According to Mintra Tilly, head of sports and global race director at Hyrox, it is very special to see hundreds of like-minded people going through the same physical and emotional challenge. Although the minimum age is 16, in the large group of participants you see a wide range of ages and fitness levels – including people in wheelchairs. The exercises are slightly modified so that every kind of athlete can participate at an equal level. This makes the race incredibly inclusive and creates a great atmosphere. It is precisely the large group of athletes, the tremendous support and the contagious atmosphere that makes the experience so special.

International hype

Hyrox is the first really big race in which fitness enthusiasts can test their fitness level. With multiple races spread across different continents, it may be clear that Hyrox is an international success. You can take on the challenge in Amsterdam, but you can also travel to Cape Town, Milan, Las Vegas or even Mexico. Add a well-deserved vacation to your trip!
